The Legend of Veronika Desinicka

In the long winter nights in the calls of owls, sometimes you can hear the carries of Veronika Desinicka, at the time the pretty girl who lived in the 15th c. in the place of Desinic beneath the Veliki Tabor castle, in which the powerful Ban Croatian Count Herman II Celjski lived. His young and handsome son Fridrih felt in love with Veronika, however the Count disagreed with relationship. The young lovers ran away to the Slovenijan town Fridrihstajn near Kocevje.
Sadly the honey moon did not last long as Count Herman found out about the secret meeting place where his son was, and right away he sent his troops to capture the young lovers. Fridrih rescued Veronika hided her in the little village Sveta Margita, but he himself could not escape his father troops and so they brought him to Veliki Tabor where he was locked in the tower. After spending there four long years, Fridrih was mentally and psihically unable to carry on living a normal life and is therefore mentioned no more in history.
Veronika too had little luck, Herman's troops soon found her and brought her to the Veliki Tabor. She was accused of being a witch and enchanted Fridrih. However the judges decided the only thing she is quilty of is great love towards Count's son, and that was never been a sin. When judges left the castle, Herman gave orders to the court officials to held Veronika's head under the water until they were sure that she had taken her final breath. The dead Veronika's body was built into the wall which divides the pentagonal tower with the front door of the castle.
