Sisak, the river of Kupa

My virtual friend Jergovic lives in South America, she was born there but her father comes from Croatia, actually from the town of Sisak. Since she never visited Croatia and Sisak I've decided to dedicate this page to her and to her father too.
After two years I've decided to change the main subject of this page, instead of destructions, made in a past war, now you can see the pitoresque pictures from the town of Sisak. The pictures which shows the consequences of the war, you can see in my Off the beaten path tips.

Sisak is a city in the region of Posavina at the confluence of the Kupa and the Sava rivers, with about 45.000 inhabitants.

History;
- in the 4th c. BC the Celtic Scordisci built in the meanders of the Kupa a fortress SEGESTICA
- conquered in 119 BC by the Roman army who named it in SISCIA.

The City Park

The old core of the town is situated on the left bank of the river Kupa. It is the main promenade area of the city and the beach resort in the hot summer days.

The Castle of Sisak

I've dedicated this page to Adrijana and Alexander Jergovic from Venezuela. We meet here on VT and it happened that they are of Croat origin. Actually, their father comes from area of Sisak and I hope I'll meet them here someday.

WARNING
WHOLE THIS PAGE IS IN DISORDER AND THAT ISN'T MY FAULT. AFTER RELAUNCH OF NEW VT, THIS PAGE HAS BEEN DISAPPEARED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND SUDDENLY IT APPEARED AGAIN AS YOU COULD SEE IT.
HOWEVER, AM STILL MISSING MY TRAVELOQUE ABOUT SISAK CASTLE AND ALL PREVIOUS GIVEN RAITINGS.

    Lovely and sad. Thank you for bringing back some nice childhood memories from Sisak and Pokupsko.
