Once a cute small town on a bank of Danube river, today it is remains of what was left.
The town of Vukovar was LITERATIM KILLED by JNA (Yugoslav Army) and Serbian paramilitary forces in 1991. As a great number of Croats, I am very affected to this town and its herous whom have struggled, more then three months, against the incomparably superior enemy.
Soon after the town was liberated in 1997, I have visited it but couldn't take any photo of it because I was terrified by seeing what was left of once beautiful place.

The Acgua Tower

In spite of seveare damages, the tower still stands as a symbol of heroic resistance.

KonstantinII me vec po drugi puta pogrešno cita.

The Castle of counts Eltz

One upon the time it was one of the most beautiful castles in Croatia. In 1991 the Castle was totaly destroyed on purpose. "They" (the Serbs) said : "we are going to built more beautiful town than it was before". Well, this is a picture of their "constructive" skills.

Moving page. Headed to Slavonski Brod next month, think I might have to take a detour up to Vukovar. Hopefully I'll find a city that's getting back on it's feet.

A girl I met in Biograd was from Vukovar. She longed for Slavonia and the Danube and to be away from the cold borea. Fine pages.

Nykaenen's pages on Vukovar are terribly impressive and pessimistic. Boris, your's bring a beam of hope. Though, recent comments on both pages reminds that "La bete est revenue" (song of French Pierre Perret) : take care, friend, the beast is awakening…

Leave Prasnjavi's comment because intl community rarely gets to meet people like him. It's open-minded, democratically oriented Serbs that foreigners meet, but they are not the ones who caused Vukovar sufferings.

No, I am not going to delete Prasnjavi's comment, it is telling more about his state of mind which is totaly insane.

CRO is independent from March 92. City was liberated on 18. Nov 91. CRO was still part of YU. JNA was on its territory fighting against Croat gangs. Serbs were majority in city. No “Serb’s paramilitary” then citizens trying to protect their lives. Right?

Unfortunately the world seems to go mad way too often.
