That day in the early morning I was still sleeping when my wife came all in panic to wake me up shouting, "Mali died in a car crash in Germany". In my home, as well as in most other Croatian homes, "Mali" was a nickname for Dražen Petroviæ Petro, the best European basketball player of all times. In croatia, Mali is usual endeared name for somebody whom we love and respect alot.
It was so absurde for me that Mali could possibly die so I said to my wife not to talk nonsenses and went back to sleep. Soon after came my son telling me the same thing and only then I realized it is the terrible truth. I can't remember when was shocked so much as in that particular moment.....

Basketball Basketball Review

Basketball used to be one of the leading and most popular games in Croatia, our players were among the best in the world. Fact is, Croatia won silver Olimpic medail in 1992 at Barcelona, playing finals against the only real "dream team" (Jordan, Pipen, Drexler, Bird, Malone, Stockton, Ewing, Barkley, Johnson, Mullin, Robinson, laettner and coach Chuck Daly).
Virtually each and every basketball playground in Croatia, at that time, used to be crowded by players whole day till very late. Croatia had number of exceptional players who made big careers in NBA, Petrovic, Kukoc, Radja, to mentione just those most popular. But then, all the sudden, everything changed after the tragic death of Drazen Petrovic - Petro, who died in a car crash accident.
Petro was in the heart of every Croatian, besides exceptional skills he was really good guy whom everybody loved. Since that time and his death kids in Croatia lost interest for basketball.

Arena Zagreb Other sports Review

Arena is brand new complex for the indoor sport games and big concerts, situated in the outskirts of the town. The capacity is over 10.000 spectators if handball, basketball or hockey game and over 15-20.000 if for the concerts. It is usually sold out for handball or hockey while other sports cannot afford it because of the low interest.
Arena already hosted some really big names, such as Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Bryan Adams etc.

SRC Salata Water sports Review

Now, this is why the town of Zagreb is unique place among the other capital towns in Europe. Just about 10 minutes walking from the heart of the city, there is a huge sports centre with a lot of different facilities.
Men, you can swim in the swiming pool and watching the nearby cathedral, you can play tennis in the center of the town and yet enjoy in the tranquility.

Directions: From the main quare, Cesarceva street - Vlaška street - Slosserove stube (staircase), and at the end of it there is Šalata Sport Centre.

Dom Dražena Petrovica Basketball Review

There is a very long tradition of basketball in Zagreb, and the local club "Cibona" belongs to the best European basketball clubs.
During the times of Dražen Petrovic - Petro, the best European basketball ever, Cibona was two times European champion, in 1984 and 1985. After his tragic death in car crash in 1992, the dome and the square in front of it was named after Dražen Petrovic.

Directions: Cibona Tower (see the picture) is the best indication where the Dom Dražena Pezrovica is situated. It is visible from every corner of the town.

Well, maybe you're not very fond of the volleyball, but it does not metter. When visiting the Jarun Lake you don't have to practice it, instead you can watch the game, especially when girls playing.
This girls are tall, very good looking and very well built.
Oh, I almost forget it, they play very good too, but who cares about it.

SRC Salata Other sports Review

SRC Salata is a home of SC Medvescak, one of the oldiest and most popular sports club of Zagreb.

Equipment: This sport club is my "second home", most of my free times I am spending here together with my friends. Here I play tennis, basketball, soccer, card-games or just "killing the time" in endless stories from the times when we were active sportsmen.
