Colosseum - Italy

Colosseum

The capital

Favorite thing: It is called the Eternal City, and most probably with the reason. Here, in one place, we can follow the history of the world, all way from its prechristian days. In its long history, over 2000 years now, for many centuries Roma was the centre of the world and its catipal town.....

Sirmione, Castello Scaligero - Italy

Sirmione, Castello Scaligero

My favorite location in Italy...

Favorite thing: My favorite location in Italy is Provincia di Verona where I have spend many days and nights. Nice town, friendly people, good restaurants and fine wines. What can one expected more?
Besides Arena and Casa di Giulietta (Julia's home) you must see Castelvecchio, Arche Scaligere, San Zeno, Piazza Dante, Duomo, Teatro Romano, S.Fermo and of course, Museums.

Fondest memory: On the picture there is Sirmione situated on Lago di Garda

Como - Italy

Como

Lago di Como

Favorite thing: Lago di Como is, I suppose so, the most northern lake of Italy situated very close to the border with Switzerland. First time I've visited it many years ago, making a round tour of lake, and I still remember plenty of beautiful villas I saw. The whole lake is considered as a well fare area, one of the richest in Italy. Besides tourism, area of Como is known for its fine wines and silk fabrics production which is, unfortunatelly, very reduced recently. The best ties you can buy are made of fabrics originated from Como.

Angera - Italy

Angera

Lago Maggiore

Favorite thing: Lago Maggiore is situated in the most northern part of Italy, about 70km north of Milano. The lake is not too big and you can do it, all around, in one day only if driving ba car. The western part of the lake is more attractive with some very beautiful destinations which are a must see when in area. Do not miss to see Angera and its fabulous castle, the small town of Arona, which is rich of historic sights and two small islands situated right in front of Stresa, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella.

Malcesine - Italy

Malcesine

Lago di Garda

Favorite thing: LAGO DI GARDA

You don't like taste of SALT in the water, make you ......, but you like swiming, surfing, boating, Lago di Garda is right place to spend your summer holidays.
Sirmione (see picture), Lazise, Peschiera, Dessenzano, Borgolino are nice places to stay.
My tip: go around lake see all this lovely places and than make decission where to stay. My preference is Lazise. There you can find small hotels, pleanty of restaurants (no need to wait for empty chair), camping, dancing, and lots of other amusemants.

Fondest memory: Seating in a small cute restaurant, eating delicious food, drinking fine Italian wines, sipping Amaretto di Saronno as digestivo and finished all with good espresso.

Pizza al metro - Italy

Pizza al metro

Pizza

Favorite thing: Yes, Italy is the homeland of pizza, a dish known all over the world.
Is it a kind of fastfood?, perhaps in some other countries but not in Italy. Of course, there are pizzerias in Italy too that makes it in a fast way and if so it is not good.
I suggest you to look for Pizzeria Napolitana, where right in front of you the guy is making pizza on wood which is the real one.
They say the best pizza is in Perugia, I was there and have seen a small pizzeria, over couple of centuries old, and a long row of people in front waiting for pizza. Must be good if so, unfortunately I haven't taste it.

Fondest memory: In some other places, like Castelletto Ticinese nearby Lago Maggiore, you can have pizza one meter long (see the picture), and it is just delicious coz they make it in Napolitanian way.

Firenze in the twilight - Italy

Firenze in the twilight

Firenze

Favorite thing: Florence is, by all means, the city of art. To see all what worth to see, you have to stay here at least one entire week. Besides its architecture and numerous monuments, there are a plenty of museums and galleries. If you haven't visited Pitti, Museum of Museums, or Galleria degli Uffizi, you better come back and visit it again.

Fondest memory: The construction of Ponte Vecchio (the Old Bridge) dates back to the Roman ages. Since the 15th c. workshops were begun to be built on the bridge, at the beginning they were occupied by butchers and fishmongers, and afterwards replaced by goldsmiths.
