The townlet of San Gimignano is one of the most attractive destination in whole Tuscany. Visiting it in the high season isn't very good idea because its narrow streets are crowded by the hordes of day-trip visitors and very soon one became tired of elbowing. Since I was one of them, however, have no right for lamentation. On the other hand, I was reworded by a very pleasant early afternoon strolling throughtout the place and its amazing towers. |
| | Porta San Giovanni The whole town is fortified with pretty high and well preserved walls. There are couple of city gates, actully three, situated on three sides from which the approching into the town is possible. Porta San Giovanni is the main entrance into the town. |
