Restaurant Name: Trattoria Sempione

Trattoria Sempione is probably the most romantic restaurants in Venice, one of those place we keep in our memory forever. Reservations recommended because you can grab your table here only if very lucky. The restaurant is situated right on the canal and while eating you can watch the gondolas passing by.

Favorite Dish: Besides number of delicious local dishes, trattoria offers fresh fish daily. I recommend you complete lunch or dinner with pasta as a first dish and grilled fish as a second one. Orata (dunno the english name) is my fav fish and here it is just delicious. The price of 30 � includes a bottle of fine wine.

Ristorante "Rialto"

Restaurant Name: RIALTO

There are plenty of restaurants in Venice, all over the historic centre of the town, which offers tourist menu from 13-20 euros.
I had dinner in ristorante "Rialto", which cots me a fortune!

Favorite Dish: This is what I had:
- coda di rospo alla griglia (fish) euro 18,00
- Pinot grigio 0,375 L euro 12,00
- acqua minerale o,75 L euro 2,50
- insalata mista euro 6,50
- cafe euro 2,50
+ they charged me with
- coperto euro 2,00
- servizio euro 5,22
Total amount euros 48,72 !!!!!
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO AVOID THAT RESTAURANT.

Restaurant Name: Jewish restaurant

I suppose this tip might be interesting to those VTers who are Jewish. There is restaurant in the Ghetto offering kosher food, which sincerely I have never taste, but would like to.

Favorite Dish: The restaurant is situated inside the Ghetto, just a foot from the Spanish school, you can't miss it. Unfortunately, I didn't get in and cannot say weather the food is kosher or not.

Trattoria Nino

Restaurant Name: Trattoria Nino

Trattoria is another name for good food, trust me, I know it very well. When in Italy I am always searching for local trattorias because eating there is something special. The atmosphere is very friendly, not fancy but very comfortable, You'll probably be welcomed by the owner who will suggest you what to eat and what to drink and all you have to do is to follow his advice.

Favorite Dish: Trattoria doesn't mean the food is chep, but it worth the money you pay.
When in Venice, you have to order seafood which is fresh and delicious.
My suggestion is:
- grilled schrimps
- grilled orata
- insala verde mista
- white wine, Tokay di Collio
- Amaretto di Sarrono
and all of this for a price of 35 euros.

Pub in Canal Grande: Bad food and service

Restaurant Name: Pub in Canal Grande

It is called Pub and is situated in Canal Grande, opposite to the train station. Well, it was very bad experience to me because I had the worst calamari (squids) of my life. I strongly recommend you to avoid this so-called restaurant. Besides, the weiter was arrogant and rude.

Favorite Dish: I had calamari, quarter of wine and esspresso and it cost me 23,50 euros. The wine was no good, the bread from yesterday and calamari completely tasteloss. I am not sure weather they served me calamari or cook's old shoes!

Restaurant Name: no name

I like the taste of pizza but it has to be "Pizza Napoletana" and every Italian knows what does it mean. Unfortunatelly, I couoldn't find it in whole of Venice although the local pizzaioli tried to convince me they make it in traditional Napolitan way (on woods). Most of the pizzas I saw around looks good but the taste is fake.

Favorite Dish: I suppose pizza is the best known dish on earth but not many people knowns it origin.
Pizza was born in Neaples and it was dish of Neapolitan poor. An early form of pizza resembling of what is called "focaccia", dish of round pita-like cooked bread with oil and tomato. The modern pizza, with "mozzarella di bufala" and tomato was made in 1871 for Princess Margherita of Savoia by Raffaelle Esposito. This patriotic pizza of basil, tomato and mozzarella, in honor of the new Italian flag (red-green-white) became "Pizza alla Margherita".
