The main street of Villafranca Villafranca is small townlet situated south of Verona in, so-called, Basso Veronese. The town is better known as the airport of Verona, I made a half day trip to Villafranca in order to visit the huge castle, which, along with the fortess at Valeggio sul Mincio, was a part of Scaligeri defending system, on the western side of their principality. When I arrived to Villafranca, there was a big market day and the townlet was crowded with people. It was very interesting experience, strolling around in between stands full of cheap and fake ready made garments and hustling with the crowd. |
| | Castello Scaligero The huge Castello Scaligero is the symbol of Villafranca. It dates back to the end of the 12th century, when the town of Villafranca was founded. |
| | Il Duomo di SS. Pietro e Paolo The Cathedral of Villafranca is copy of the Redentore church in Venice, famous work by Palladio. |
