The Roman amphitheatre | El Jem, the Roman amphitheatre |
Since I was grown up in Pula, another town with great Roman amphitheatre, I couldn't wait to see this one in El Jem. My first impression was pretty disapointing because the amphitheatre in Pula is much better preserved and a bit higher. Also, it is made of very solid stone of Istrian origin, the same stone you can see built in numerous Venetian palaces and churches..... to be continued. |

Cheers DEAN | RAPA-NUI Tue Nov 30, 2004 19:47 UTC Never heard of it, Roman amphitheatre looks just fantastic, thanks for sharing | JLBG Fri Nov 19, 2004 08:54 UTC Boris, your El Djem page is great, with superb pictures and good comment. Some one that had lived in Pula was ready to appreciate one of the other best amphitheaters in the world! Yes, only a wide angle can shoot the whole of El Djem, what I could do! |
