There are carpets and "carpets", depend on weather you buy it in the carpet stores or from the street wendors. Every street weondor will try to convince you that his carpets, even those which cost 100 dinars only, are of wool origin and hand-made. One more warning, when in Medina, never trust to those guys who "recognize" you as the guest of the hotel they are working in. Usualy they'll try to present themselves as the waiters, pretending to help you in shopping.

At Least Do This: In case your "waiter" is importunate, ignore him or tell him you're going to call the police and he will disappeared immediately.
Alternative: The hand-made wollen carpet isn't cheap, it cost from 150 euros and higher. If the seller cannot provide you the certificate issued by the state authorities, do not buy it.
