BOSANSKI SEVDAH

by croisbeauty - last update: Nov 28, 2004

Mostar - The Old Bridge

Bosnia&Herzegovina is a country where my late father was born, therefore i like it very much. However, now it isn't a place I used to know. Everything has changed, even the old bridge in Mostar, you see on this picture, does not exist! I took this picture somwhere in August 1989, now it isn't more than a sad memory. Sad as bosnian folk songs so-called "sevdah" can bee.

Bosnia is a land of barbecued lamb, which is the most popular dish among the locals.
Almost everywhere you go, in particolarly along the roads, this picture will follow you.

The Muslim graveyard

By the look of the tombstone you can find out weather the deceased was a male or female, young or old when died, rich or poor, etc.

My mother and father were born in Bosnia, in Glamoc and Bihac. I'm planning a trip in the spring. First flying to Belgrade, renting a car and driving to Sarajevo, Bihac, and Banja Luka. Your page is great. Do you have recent info. Thank you.
