Going home - Tunisia

Going home

Going back home

My flight back home was supposed to be at 6AM. We came to Monastir under the dark, about 4:30AM and everything seemed unreal to me. After passing custom formalities we were told the fight is delayed because something is wrong with our plane. Another and final nightmare in Tunisia was far too much for me. When the sun rised up, everything was fixed and we could fly back home.

The airport of Monastir - Tunisia

The airport of Monastir

Ariving to Monastir

Well, now I know how the seaman felt when seeing the ground after spending many days in open sea. Outside the plane it was dusty, very hot but I felt very big relief when touching the ground again. It wasn't bad after all.

Inside the plane - Tunisia

Inside the plane

Inside the big bird

Here I am again inside the big bird after more then 20 years of absence. It took me a while to get how it works and what to do. The plane stuff wasn't much of help to me, beying so bussy around coz the bird was ful of people. Luckily, the flight was very smooth and pretty short, though, I couldn't wait to see "madre terra" again.

Nouvelair is pretty safe company - Tunisia

Nouvelair is pretty safe company

Am I affraid of flying?

The last time I've flyed by the plane was in the early 80ties and I had pretty bad experience in that occasion. All my travels, since that time, I've made by car.
Before flying to Tunisia, I made my research about the company and got results upon which it is among the most secure in the business. Nevertheless, I was very exited before entering in the plane.

Cruising tours - Tunisia

Cruising tours

Cruising boats

There are cruising tours from Nabeul to Hammamet and along the seaside in such old fashioned pirate boats. One relatively short tour costs about 40 dinars, lunch included. I've asked for the impressions people who made this tour and since they were unsatisfated I quit it.

Taxi drive - Tunisia

Taxi drive

Very cheap taxi

The taxi drive in Tunisia is probably among the cheapest in the world. In fact, it costs nothing comparing it with the prices in Europe. There are about 30km from Nabeul to Hammamet and the taxi drive cost me from 7-10 dinars, depending on traffic conditions and the time of the day.
Besides yellow taxi, there is also white taxi which is even more cheaper but I never used it. The white taxi, as I've been told, stops on each demand if there is a free seat in the car.

Another glitch - Tunisia

Another glitch

My bus adventure

I've spend two and a half hours in the plane, flying from Zageb to Monastir, and the distance is more then 2.000km. Traveling from Monastir to Nabeul by bus took me five (5) hours and the distance is less then 100km.
The local agent, "Carthage travel", put us in this bus of very poor conditions and it has to stop every few kilometres because the machine was over heated.
