Douz, the magic of Sahara

Carthage, the legendary place

Medenine, the southern Tunisia

I've revisited Tunisia in 2005 unexpectedly. My plane was to visit Kenya but then my wife was scared after several teroristic attacks rejecting it. The alternative plan was Turkay, where the teroristic bomb exploded righr before we bought the tickets, so we decided to revisit Tunisia where we had very nice holidays in 2004.
Our base was on island of Djerba which is quite unjustified called the Paradise of Mediterranean. I'll rather say it is an island under major construction works, very dirty and with poor beach resorts. I adore swimming and diving in the sea-water, but Djerba is the only resort I had to quit it. The sea is extremely superficially, the water is thick and full of sea-grass.
On the other hand, the internal part of the country, in the area of Medenine County, is very beautiful, especially the mountains around Chenini. Besides the desert resorts around Douz and Tozer, it is undoubtely the most beautiful part of Tunisia and a must see.

so right about Djerba, I found the same. But the reason I saw it is that it is said to have been the Lotophagans' Island in Homer's Odyssey (who knows if it's true?)

Non ho capito i commenti in croato...niente bilingue stavolta? Immagino una bella esperienza. Hai conosciuto dei Tuareg? Com'è la gente lì? SI può viaggiare da soli?
