The People:
Norwagians are generally very peaceful, calm and helpful people. In my short trip to Norway's capital i never saw a single person shouting, yelling or misbehaving with anyone on the streets, shops or in pubs. They all speak Norwagian and English is the second language. So, if you are lost in the streets of Oslo, which is a rare possiblity then feel free to stop anyone you see and ask your way :-) They'll talk to you in a nice friendly way with a smile on their faces.
The Country:
Norway's big drawback is that its too far away from the Central Europe. It's not like that if you are planning a trip to Munich, Germany and you take a train and come to Zurich, Switzerland for a day ! For going to Norway you have to make a proper travel plan and it should be only having Norway in it. Unfortunately i had not enough time (and money) to go up in the northern areas of Norway but i have seen the post cards and films from the Arctic region of Norway and its stunning ! i must say its really a beautiful country which has not been extensively discovered and explored by the millions of tourists of the world. The nature is untouched and in a 'natural' way :-)
Financial Issues:
Yes Norway is for sure expensive ! i live in Switzerland and when Britishers come here they say Zurich is more expensive than London but i think Oslo is more expensive than Zurich ! May be its the most expensive city in Europe !!! I don't drinks but the folks who drink alcohol its a night mare for them as the alcohol is expensive so that people don't drink it too much. The food in the restaurants is very expensive such as i went to the 'recommended' cheap restaurant to take my lunch and it costed me 5 £ for a indian low cost meal ! |
