The City of Men The major activities conducted by the people are done by mostly men. Everything is done by men. Women have nearly no role in the city. They are lmited to kitchen and children. The britishers ruled this city as well and there building are still being used. There is one church built in 1891 A.D. There are a few top families living in the city and the whole city are under their control such as 'hoti', 'toru' and 'khan' family. Bazaars and towns are here from early 20th century, the time when Indo-Pak were one ! The locals say that Alexander's Army passed by this city to go Swat Valley. The famous warrior Ahmad Shah Abdali (from Afghanistan ) left his family here in this city. His 11th generation is still living in Mardan !!!
Mardan exports Tobacco, Suger cane, fruites to the whole country. It has got a lot of suger cane factories. There are some some archeological sites in the outskirts of the city which are of 'Ashoka' time. There is no one who can recognise the writing of Ashoka uptill date !!!
