I was born in Nottingham,but left to join the Navy. I have travelled lots of the world with the Navy and since leaving done a fair amount. You really need to see as much as you can whilst you can because you never know what is aroungd the corner. My home is on the Island of PORTLAND. It is very famous for its stone that has been used to build most of the major buildings in London. The island still has active quarries and the coastline is very stunning in summer as well as winter The pace of life is very slow.
It has now become a school of excellance for sailing and the harbour is one of the largest in the world. It is a mecca for windsurfers and divers with lots of wrecks around the coast.
Well worth a visit especially now it has been granted Jurassic coast status.
