The oldest building and the so-called birthplace of SF. You can see an old chapel and a cathedral, a one-room-museum with artefacts of the 18th century when the mission was established (1776) and a small cemetery with old graves and lots of trees and shrubs and flowers. The whole thing is relatively interesting to see it but I found the 3 $ entrance fee a little too high.

Probably the most famous inhabitants of SF - the sea lions! There's always a big crowd watching, and most of the day the sea lions don't really move at all. So here comes my secret tip: Every morning (I guess...) some people are cleaning the wooden platforms. During the cleaning, the sea lions have to leave the platform and they are swimming and playing and diving - great to watch them actually do something and there are not too many people around.

A great museum! Like in every museum of modern or contemporary art, you find some pieces of art in this museum where the sense of art is hard to grasp, where you're just shaking your head, stronly believing you could have painted that blue pictures in a nicer blue, adding a red dot somewhere. But there are some great pictures of some famous artists, sculptures and installations. Temporary exhibitions as well as permanent own collections. The building itself is maybe the most beautiful exhibit! Thursday night is like a happy hour, half price entry between 6 and 9 p.m.
