A wonderful town in the very west of Germany. Great old town atmosphere, an interesting history, good shopping, great nightlife and a lot to do. I used to visit Aachen a lot, now it's just now and then to visit friends and go climbing.

- the people of Aachen call their city Oche
- the French call it Aix-La-Chapelle
- the Dutch call it Aken
- and the Romans used to call it Aquis Granum
- the official name is Bad Aachen - but they prefer to not use this spa title in order to be number one in all listings of German cities
- no beer comes from Aachen, but Printen - a kind of gingerbread that you get around Christmas time all over Germany, but in Aachen you get it all year round
- Aachen has the highest density of pubs in Germany (in relation to inhabitants)
- with the CHIO Aachen has one of the most important equestrian events in the world, every year
- the soccer fans of Alemannia Aachen are supposed to be the best supporters in Germany
- the Karlspreis, one of the most prestigous honours in European politics/economy/culture is awarded in Aachen every year
