Ft. Worth Skyline
Favorite thing: Ft. Worth is a lovely, unique city, that commands more than one visit to show you the best of what she has to offer.
Just looking at the impressive skyline, makes you want to go within the heart of this city, to explore what makes her pulse.
Visitors Bureau..
Favorite thing: Fort Worth Visitors Bureau...
One of the first stops you should make is the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau for lots of great info in and around the Fort Worth area. They can supply you with brochures and maps and any helpful information to make sure you do not miss anything during your stay.
There is also another Visitors Bureau in the Stockyards.
The Bureau is open..
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.pm
Saturday 10am to 4.pm
415 Throckmorton Street
Downtown Ft. Worth..
Favorite thing: Forth Worth is divided into 3 distinct districts. The Cultural District is only minutes from the busy downtown area, and provides wonderful art galleries, museums, entertainment, sporting venues, and of course beautifully laid out gardens.
The Historic District is where you will get a feel of the American West. The Stockyards covers 125 acres.
There is the rodeo, Billy Bobs, great sounvenir and western clothing stores as well as being able to see the worlds only daily cattle drive.
The Downtown area is more the business area but not without its attractions, entertainment, good restaurants and the charm of their constant efforts in preservation.
Tarantula Train
Favorite thing: This old 1896 restored steam train rolls into the Stockyards Station twice daily from Grapevine. The name of the train comes from an old 1873 railroad map which showed the city as the central station with routes stretching out like the legs of a spider. The coaches date back to 1925 and the train follows the 21 mile route of the Cotton Belt line.
140 E. Exchange Ave.
Ft. Worth
Coliseum
Favorite thing: Next to the Livestock Exchange building is the Coliseum. This was the location of the first indoor rodeo which was held in 1918. The first live radio broadcast took place in 1923. Rodeos are held every Friday and Saturday nights and features steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping and barrow racing not to mention traditional bull riding.
121 East Exchange Ave.
Ft. Worth
Statues - Cattle/Horse/Cowboy
Favorite thing: This is an interactive museum with exhibits, theatre presentations and authentic memorabilia of the pioneer days of the Southwest. It also has one of the largest collections of branding irons in the world. You will find talking mannequins which really make the legends and stories come alive. Take a closer look at the cowboys, rustlers and lawmen of the old west.
There is a small admission charged and free for children under 4 yrs..
