"Aloha`oe" was written by Queen Liliuokalani, to express her sadness, that her husband would be away from 'aina' and 'ohana' without someone who loved him, someone to take him in her arms, to caress his brow, to comfort him, because to a Hawaiian, nothing could be worse, than to be alive, with no one there to love you. ( I imagine, that would be true for all of us ) |
|  | Honolulu is a vibrant city, full of exciting things to do and see.
There always seemed to be something happening, or someplace to go. The city that never sleeps, describes it to a 'T'.
The days are full of activities like site-seeing, shopping, exploring different parts of the city, people watching, or just laying around on
the beach. You end this with a magnificent Sunset, then the place takes on a whole new meaning of "Alive".
This Island is incredibly beautiful, the beaches, the mountains, the small towns. And the natural ruggedness of the coastline, took my breath away.
To get the most out of exploring the Island, hire a Harley, or car for a day. You won't regret it.
Another must see: Any Hula shows that happen to be on at the time. I was very lucky to have seen two excellent shows while I there.
"The Kodak Hula Show" in Kapiolani Park. This was possibly the last time for this show, they were looking for a new sponsor, to be able to continue. I hope they found one, would be a shame to lose it. |

| | One of the many things that made a big impression on me, was the climb to the top of Diamond Head. The climb wasn't a piece of cake for me, and I had to stop a couple of times for a breather, But the view at the top was Awesome, and well worth the effort.
Be sure to take drinking water, and a torch, and do the hike early, before the heat of the day sets in, as well as the crowds. |

We were robbed 06/23/24 at the blow hole on Oahu while just stopping to take a quick picture because we were due to fly out that night. Beware it's for real,,,,we will not be going back to Oahu except for changing planes for a more secluded island. | Hexepatty Wed May 2, 2007 18:10 UTC
