Melbourne
Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia. Located on Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne was originally a settlement of Australian Aborigines. Two groups of Europeans from Tasmania settled there in 1835 after trading blankets, tools, and weapons to the Aborigines for land. Today Melbourne is an important port and manufacturing centre. It has a strong continental influence, due to the large part of the population, coming from European countries, in the post war years. |

| | This can be seen almost everywhere across the city, and suburbs, from the style of buildings, types of resturants and cafe's, even the furnishings available in stores. The enormous variety of different types of food products available here, is incredible. And the selection of wines, many of which are grown in this region, are among the best in the world. The Melbourne and Geelong Penninsulas are the two best regions for doing 'Wine Tasting TourS' And even though I have recommended this, in no way will I be held responsible, for any sore heads the next day... : ) My motto... Enjoy.... : ) |
