Manchaca is too small to show up on most maps, but we've got a ZIP code. Manchaca is an unincorporated area - a town with a name but without a government or any of the municipal conveniences (like a water and wastewater system) that you find in a real town.
Big attractions: Cafe 1626, the Texican Cafe, and a Post Office where you never have to take a number. If you want to do something on Saturday night (or just about any other time), you go into Austin.
Give it another 10 or 20 years, and Manchaca will just be another neighborhood in South Austin.
It's a nice place to raise your babies. It's a mind-numbingly dull place to be a teen-ager.
