Madrid turned out to be a facinating city with hidden treasures. The people were very friendy and helpful even though English was not spoken as widely as on the Costas, take a trip up the Faro for great veiws and visit the Palace Real,The Prado gallery or the Sofia Reine gallery. Do take a trip out the city to Segovia and visit a fairy tale castle or to Toledo with it's beautiful Cathedral. Aranjuez another beautiful spot with a royal palace or to La Granja de San Ildefonso another palace based on Versialles. The Rastro market Sunday morning and my favorite thing Retiro park on Sunday afternoon full of people playing music or puppet shows, tarot card readers and chinese medicine practioners, not to forget the crystal palace there and the duck pond just sit back relax and people watch, facinating.
The picture taken by me at Moncloa (look at that sky for February)is of the Faro which means lighthouse, it is not a lighthouse but a great place to take a trip in the lift up the top for great views, see must see section for more info.
