On ul. Wawelska (off ul. 3 Maja) near to the main train station, there are a few restaurants including El Greco & La Grotta -- eat outside on a nice day.

NB: When I visited in April 2005 some of the buildings in this street were undergoing renovation so the restaurants may be temporarily closed.

ul. Stawowa

ul. Stawowa is the street directly opposite the train station. There are a few eating places here including a pizza cafe, McDonald's and El Patio Grill which has a good selection of meals

Zloty Osiot: Vegetarian option

Excellent vegetarian cafe, wide choice of hot and cold dishes. May not look much from the outside but the interior is tastefully decorated and provides a nice atmosphere.

Directions: From the Rynek walk along Warszawska and take the 2nd road on the right which is A.Mieleckiego -- walk along that and you will come to the cafe on the corner of ul. Mariacka.

As you can see from the photo, it's not very appealing from the outside, but inside you'll find a warm welcome.

Nice atmosphere - candle-lit tables - some nights live Mexican music.

Favorite Dish: Good selection of Mexican dishes.
