I suppose most tourists who go to Krakow take a photo of the beautiful Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) in the Rynek - I was no exception - although I was fortunate to find the Rynek so empty. Modern archaeologists have proved that the Cloth Hall was one of the first large 'department stores' in Europe, dating from as early as the 12th century -- a quote from Jaroszewski's "Cracow - a Townscape in Miniature".
The advent of cheap flights to Krakow from around Europe mean that the city is just going to get busier and busier -- so go now and enjoy what this wonderful city has to offer -- before it becomes too crowded ... |
