| Wroclaw University on the Odra River |
I've travelled around Poland quite a lot over the years and I think Wroclaw is my favourite city. Of course Krakow gets all the plaudits, and rightly so, it's a beautiful city, but Wroclaw has a charm all of its own - it's smaller than Krakow and not as crowded and is a real pleasure to walk around.
Situated on the Odra River, Wroclaw has 12 islands and 112 bridges and is the 4th largest city in Poland, after Warsaw, Lodz and Krakow. |
| | The Rynek is surrounded by burghers' houses dating back to the 15th century - it's the 2nd largest Rynek in Poland.
There's still a lot of Wroclaw I've not seen, including probably the city's most popular sight, The Raclawice Pamorama, don't know why I didn't get round to seeing that -- ah well, a good reason to go back one day .... |
