Nikkerjarve lake, Aegviidu, Estonia - Aegviidu

About an hour east of Tallinn, the small village of Aegviidu offers the traveller a chance to experience the real Estonia -- a place of forests, lakes, tranquility and friendly people.

I have a friend who lives here and had the pleasure of visiting for a week or so -- it was a total change for me -- perfect relaxation in ideal surroundings.

You won't find a host of shops, bars and restaurants here -- maybe just a local shop and couple of small places where you can have a drink, but the scenery is superb and if you enjoy walking or cycling it's ideal.

Paul, lovely little page with brilliant photos of a place I have never heard of. Aegviidu seems to be well worth a daytrip from Tallinn. Interesting info about the American locomotive. Well done.
