Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) Doge's Palace Review

Started in the 9th century and rebuilt several times, the present Palace dates back to the 14th century. The building was a municipal centre and residence for the doges, the elected leaders of the Venetian Republic up to its fall in 1797. After being damaged by fire, the interior was decorated by leading Venetian artists of the 16th. century, including Titian, Tintoretto, and Paolo Veronese.
