A mix of remote moorland, rolling countryside, quaint villages, ancient abbeys and castles, seaside resorts -- North Yorkshire has a lot to offer the holidaymaker or casual visitor. You really need a car and a good map to enable you to experience the moorlands, to be able to turn off the main roads and visit the picturesque little villages dotted all over this landscape -- North York Moors is a National Park but very much a working one, farmland abounds here and it's a delight to drive the winding roads and contrast the green pastures with the nearby moorland landscape. Whatever your interests I'm sure you'd find North Yorkshire an appealing destination.

York (proper) is one of my wife's favorite cities. She never tires of wandering the Shambles or going to the community theatre.

An excellent little page. You were lucky to have such great weather and blue skies in November. I can imagine how beautiful it is there with heather in bloom - it is the sight that made me speechless in Ireland.
