Low Wray, Lake District, England
Hello & thanks for visiting my page.

I hope you find my travel pages of interest - most have information, some just pictures.

My home city is Manchester, England - of course I enjoy travelling, but at home I enjoy walking/hiking, photography and follow most sports - my football team is Manchester United

Thanks to all you VT members for the pages you've provided - so many places to see .....

Cheers,
Ben

Recent travels

United Kingdom

If you travel abroad a lot, as I've been fortunate to do, it's easy sometimes to ignore what's on your own doorstep, so recently I've been taking time to have a closer look at places in my own country, places like: Lake District, Scotland, Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, North Yorkshire -- I'm glad I've done it, the UK has so much to offer ...
Dent, Yorkshire Dales, England
Ramsgill, Yorkshire Dales, England

England

If you get away from the cities and venture into the English countryside you'll find rolling hills, lots of greenery, stone cottages, red phone boxes and red post boxes! -- all here in this photo I took in the small village of Ramsgill in beautiful Nidderdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Scotland

Scotland is a great country to visit -- magnificent scenery and extremely friendly local people -- it's a big country and you need time to explore it properly, I haven't had the chance to spend much time in the Highlands yet but hope to do that before too long -- if you haven't been to Scotland do try and visit sometime, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
The lighthouse at Turnberry, Ayrshire, Scotland
Lake Windermere, England

It doesn't always rain here ...

We do have blue skies and sun in England sometimes ...
even in winter ....

I took this photo at Ambleside on Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park, north-west England on January 29th, 2005

Walking around ...

There are lots of nice places around my home area where you can go walking -- I took this photo one November day whilst walking in Macclesfield Forest, part of the Peak District National Park
Macclesfield Forest, Cheshire, England
Krakow, Poland

Poland

The country I've visited most often recently is Poland - I worked there for a while in 2000 and am always glad to go back - it's easy to travel around and the country has a lot to offer with historic cities, the mountains in the south, the lakes area in the north-east and the Baltic coast to the west - if you haven't been then give Poland a chance, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
