Caerdydd (Cardiff)

29 May 2009

At 12.35pm I took the bus to the train station. At the train station I bought I train ticket. Then I walked to the platform. Had to wait 5 minutes before the train arrived. Once in the train it took me more then an hour to get to Schiphol Airport. At the airport I went straight to the check-in desk. I only had to give my suitcase to the people as I have allready checked in at home (via the internet). After that I went to customs. Didn't had to wait that long. Then I walked through some shops. At one point I went to McDonalds (what else?). Once I was done, I went to other shops. After a while I went to the gate where I waited before boarding. The airline used a bus to get the passengers to the plane. Around 4.50pm the plane departed. The flight was around 55 minutes. Once in Cardiff it didn't take a long time before the suitcase came. I went to a cab which brought me to the hotel (ride was about 20 minutes). At the hotel I checked in. Went to my room. I put my belongings there and went outside for a walk. To the shopping area. Have a look around what kind of shops there were. Most of them where closed allready. Then I went back to the hotel and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

This morning I woke up at 8am. After breakfast I grabbed my bag and went outside. I walked to Cardiff Castle. Had to purchase a ticket to get in. Inside (the yard area) I walked around for a bit. At one point I walked on top of a wall. To the startpoint of the tour ('behind the scenes' rooms). Had to wait a bit. When it was 10.55am the guide came. There was another couple for the same tour. So, it was a bit of a private tour. It was really interesting to see all of these rooms. After the tour I did the tour that was open for everybody. Then I went to Norman Keep and had a great overview over the area (from the top). After 3 hours spending at Cardiff Castle, I saw it all and walked out. I had lunch at Subway. After that I took the Citysighseeing bus. The bus was leaving at 2pm. At Mermaid Quay I stepped out of the bus. I walked along the boulevard, around Cardiff Bay and to Cardiff Barrage. From there you have great views over the sea. I took a taxiboat back to Mermaid Quay. I walked to the busstop. Had to wait a few minutes before the bus came. Went back to the starting point. I went to the shopping area. Once I was finished and went to a restaurant for diner. After that I went back to the hotel and relaxed.
City Hall
31 May 2009

This morning I woke up at 8am. After breakfast I grabbed my bag and went walking. First I went to the City Hall. I made a couple of pictures from the building. Then I went to Gorsedd Gardens. I walked through it (and made pictures). After that I went to the National Museum & Gallery of Wales. It wasn't open when I arrived. So, I went to Civic Centre (another parc). I walked through it. At one point I went back to the Museum & Gallery fo Wales. I spend the rest of the morning in the museum. Once I was out, I went to Suway to have lunch. After lunch I went to Bute Park. I walked along the river Taff. One point I walked back. I went to shops, where I spend the rest of the afternoon. At the end of the day I went to a restaurant for dinner. After dinner I went back to the hotel to relax the rest of the evening.

01 June 2009

This morning I woke up at 8.15am. After breakfast I went backt to the room. I had to put my belongings in the suitcase as I was leaving home today. I was done, so I walked to the front desk to check out. After that I went to the concierge to leave my suitcase behind. I went outside for a walk. I went to St John's Church. I took a few pictures. Then I went to the Millennium Stadium. Up here I took a few pictures as well. After that I went to the shopping area and walked there for a while. At one point I walked back to the hotel. I collected my bag and waited for the cab to bring me to the airport. At the airport I checked in. Had lunch before I flew back home.

Nice review of the Hilton Hotel - i used to use the Health club there quite a bit, the stainless steel pool is a bit weird tho. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Cardiff. Vicki :-)
