The first day in Cairns I didn't do much. I relaxed from the bustrip.
On day 2 I walked along the Esplanade. This is a walking track of 2.4 kilometer along the coast. It is really nice to walk this.
On day 3 I went to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre. Probably most people of the world have seen the serie on the television. First you will see a video about the Flying Doctors in action. Then you will go outside to see a plane in real life. You can inside to watch how it is inside. After this you can see the little museum they have got. A lot of pictures and stories from many years. Also radios and instruments are showed. Because the Flying Doctors are not getting financial support from the government, they are really proud to receive money from the public. The Centre is a place you MUST see. After the Centre I went to Aquaworld on the Pier. You will see coral and fish up here which are living in the Barrier Reef. Really interesting.
On day 4 I went to do the Skyrail. This is place were you can see the Rainforest by train, lift or both. I did it only by lift. You will go above the rainforest. REALLY GREAT EXPERIENCE!! It is so nice to watch the rainforest from above. In 2 stages you will go to Kuranda. At both stages I went out and walked a bit through the forest. In Kuranda you can walk and shop.
On day 5 I went to Cairns Central. This is a Mall. I went to get some gifts for home. But in the Mall I didn't find any. So, I went to another place were I succeeded in finding gifts.
On day 6 I was going with a helicopter flight. I was planning to go for a 40 minute trip, but that was totally full. So, I did the 30 minute trip. Next to the Pier there was a landing place for the helicopter. When the helicopter came, me and 2 French women went into the helicopter. First we went to see Green Island and after that the Outer Reef. IT IS SO GREAT TO WATCH IT FROM THE SKY!!!!! So nice. Amazing.
On day 7 I did a swing and a bungy jump. THIS IS AMAZING THING TO DO!! It is so terrific to jump from the tower. Really weird feeling. But when you did it, you are PROUD that you concer the fear. I received also a Certificate of Insanity. |
| | On day 8 I didn't do much special. Relaxing.
On day 9 I met my VT-friend Jan from Sydney. She took the first plane from Sydney. It took 3 hours to come from Sydney to Cairns. After she arrived in Cairns she hired a car and went to the hotel were I was staying. We stayed a bit in the hotel. Then we drove to Daintree National Park. We walked a bit along a river. Then we went to Port Douglas, to the beach. Walked there a bit. And after that we would like to go to a place were you can see crocodiles. But we were in time need and the price was A$ 24.00, so we decided not to go in there. Into the car and went to hotel I was staying. There we were drinking and talking. Around 4 o'clock Jan had to go to catch her flight back to Sydney. It was a really nice day to spend it with Jan.
On day 10 I relaxed. Prepar for the trip home.
On day 11: had to go back home.((:
