On 01 October 2001 I arrived around 4am in Canberra by bus. At 6.30 I could call the hostel I that I booked. When I was staying at the busstation, I found out that there was an English women and a male Korean were going to the same hostel. All 3 of us were picked up at 7.15am. When we arrived at the hostel, we could check in. I had to wait some more, because the people that were in my room weren't out yet and the room had to be cleaned. So, I had some breakfast and waited. Around 8am I could go into my room. After taking a shower, I went for a walk. I went through Wentworth Avenue to Bowen Drive and under the bridge to Parkes Pl. Up here, I walked on the bridge to Commonwealth Park. In this park there was the Floriade. This is a place were bulbs were growing (like the Keukenhof in the Netherlands). It was really pretty to see it. Some flowers were dead, but it didn't bother. There were also an air cushion for children. The Floriade was opened from 15 September 2001 till 14 October 2001. Luckely I was in the good period in Canberra. :) After being to this, I walked back over the bridge of Commonwealth Ave. I walked through Langton St till King George Tce. Here I cam along the parliament house. When I looked the other way, I saw the Australian War Monument. After this I went back to the hostel because I was tired. I was relaxing a bit in the afternoon. Around 5.15pm I went to a restaurant. I ate at Nelsons. After dinner I went back to the restaurant and relaxed.
On 02 October 2001 I stood up around 8am. During breakfast I was reading some leaflets about hostels in Sydney. After breakfast I asked the reception about how to get a busticket to Sydney. I had to phone Greyhound. So, I did. I arranged to get the bus from 12.30pm tomorrow. I said I was paying at the busterminal. I got a registrationnumber. After calling Greyhound, I asked the reception if I could go with their bus. I could. And after registration, I went into the bus. At the busstation I went straight to the desk of Greyhound. When it was my turn, I payd AU$39 to them. I got the ticket. Now I can go to Sydney! After all this, I went back to the van of the hostel. Together we (the busdriver and I) went back to the hostel. At the hostel I asked the reception how to contact the Harbour City Hotel in Sydney. The lady at the reception contacted them and mad the arrangement for me. All of the things I had to arrange for Sydney, I did. Now it was time to sit back and relax. Which I did for the rest of the morning. Around 12.15pm I packed my bag and went walking to some restaurants for lunch. After lunch I was walking around to some shops. At a certain time I went back to the hostel to relax more for the afternoon. At 4pm there was a huge rain and thunderstorm. This was nice to watch. The sewer system couldn't handle this much water, so all the water came out and went on the streets. An hour later the rain stopped. And a rainbow came. After all of this, I went to a restaurant to have dinner. |
| | On 03 October 2001 I stood up at 7.30am and went for breakfast. At 8.15am I was in my room again and started to pack my bags. When I was ready, I went to the reception to check out. I had to wait a while before going. At 10.15am I went with the bus of the hostel to the busstation. Arriving at the busstation, I had to wait before I could check in. At 12pm I checked in and I got my seatnumber for the bus. I went straight to the bus, but I had to wait till 12.20pm. The busdriver did my large bag in the cargo hold and by the dooropening a women puted a mark behind my name on the list. I was sitting next to a guy who slept most of the journey. The busride took place for 4 hours. The first part of the yourney, it rained. The second part of the journey, the sun came out. At 4.30pm I arrived at the busstation of Sydney.
