My wife and I went to Serrinha with some friends to get out of Salvador for a couple of days like the rest of the city does for São João. This is a holiday in June where everyone goes to small towns in the country and dances Forró. It's a celebration for Saint John and just like every holiday in Brazil, it's a another reason for a party.
My pictures don't show any of the party. Sorry, but you wouldn't want to see me dancing Forró anyway. We spent a lot of our time hanging out in the town and just enjoying the fresh air. What I like the most about this time of the year and these small towns is that you can go from home to home and be invited in to have a taste of the local cuisine and a drink.
- Pros:Very relaxing and good company.
- In a nutshell:Just let the world pass you by.

This is beautiful countryside. I'd say just wander around and take in the fresh air. This is, of course, during the day.... more travel advice

I got eaten up at night. Repellant or netting would be very helpful. The mosquitos there love fresh blood. more travel advice
