The gypsies and pick pockets are working hard, even in the winter. My husband caught a little girl going for his pocket the first night we were in Rome, near the train station. We talked to a woman who had her wallet stolen by a teenage girl on the bus. She spent the whole nxt day running around trying to replace things. Be smart, carry all of your valuables (passport, plane tickets) in a money belt under your clothes. Assume you are being watched because you probably are. But don't let it spoil your fun.
