Name of Shop: LEGEND

The best place for finding any grammophone record is Legend Records. It's off downtown Ottawa, but at the collection there must be many German and Britsch immigritants for the 50-ies living nearby.

The shop is just known for having many records. The albums are reasonable sorted and displayed. Special off main stream records are stacked by topic; most of them behind sliding doors at the lower level bins.

45-ers are somewhere at the left lower section in big carbon boxes. The ones closest to the entrance are the "just in" ones. You just have to sort things out.

Staff is very helpful and not short in having a prank at times.

No compures, no websites; if you have a search item it will be noted and if found, stored somewhere.

In short: it's just a small vinyl heaven. Go and spend some hours there.

Directions: From the 417 highway take the Pinecrest exit up North. Stay in the right lane and go with the flow onto Carling Avenue. Make sure you cross over to the left lane to pull into the Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre parking lot.

Name of Shop: Turning Point

Amzaing how easy I returned to this shop. Just through Bank Street until I came to a familiar side street name Cooper. Not to far from the corner Turning Point is located.

It's a small house with a bit of everything (incl. CD's) on the ground floor and interesting vinyl albums on the first floor.

The owner is helpful and you really can find some good price/quality here.

No 45-ers :(

Name of Shop: Vertigo

Virtigo is a 2nd hand record store housed in a cheap concrete building at Rideau St.

It's very straight forward and has the backpacker atmosphere of the neighbourhood (Loebs & Tattoo shops).

Most modern stuff, but the comedy section and adjacent bins sometimes hide some goodies.

What To Buy: Whatever music you want. More chance if you like the 90-ies and beyond.

Directions: A 5 minutes walk from the locks on the left side of Rideau Street Eastwards; pass Dallhousie.

Name of Shop: CD Exchange

Packed in betwwen Tattoo shops and the Rideau center, the CD-Exchange.

The name says in all: it's CD's at low cost.

Main stream makes up most of the collection. It just where you run into.

Name of Shop: The Comic Book Shoppe

While walking on Bank I noticed the Comic Book shop had moved from the left to the right side.

In the past the staff gave great service and I have no doubt that has changed.

I noticed they have a second store at 1400 Clyde Avenue, Nepean.

What To Buy: Comic books.

Name of Shop: Rideau Centre

The Rideau Centre is a "classic" Canadaian mall. Double doors, only opening to the outside does not look like a welcome to foreigners, but once you visit Canada in wintertime you will understand.

Inside you find a food court and a mix of 180 known Canadian shops and some temporay new ones.

There's a skyway to the Bay department store at the other side of Rideau St.

What To Buy: Fast food and for the rest it's up to your likings.
