For centuries Krakow was the capital of Poland and the seat of the Polish kings. As such, the city became a center for culture and even today the artistic scene in the city can be felt and experienced.

Kraków has been ruled from empires from all sides. Relics of those periods form an important part of the town's history and buildings.

The main attractions are the Royal Castle at the Wawel hill, the St Mary's Basilica and the historical trade pavilions of the Cloth Hall at the central market square, the former separate Jewish city of Kazimierz and the Nowa Huta district.

Pros:Very much walkable city
Cons:Invading modern brands.
