De Poezenboot - The cat boat

The " Poezenboot" is a houseboat that was converted into a cat asylum.

It all started when Mr.s van Weelde living at the Herengracht found a stray cat mother and her kittens and started care for the cat family. Soon after other cats were adopted.
In 1968 a first boat was bought and transformed into an asylum for cats. Mrs. van Weelde still had a number of cats in her house. This situation lasted a decade.
A second boat was bought and converted in 1971. In 1979 the first boat was replaced by a special build "ark" boat, the present main cat asylum location.
In 1987 the management was taken over by a newly founded society, "Stichting De Poezenboot".
In 2001 the boat was renovated completely.

The FGS HE HUA TEMPEL Red Light District Review

The Fo Guang Shan He Hua Temple is the biggest traditional Chinese temple in Europe. Its location right at the Red Light District seems strange, but at the East side of the RLD you can enjoy the Amsterdam Chinese quarter.

Street Artists

Street Artist mainly can be found at the DAM and Leidseplein squares.

At the DAM you will see several living statues, a good¨promotion for Madama Tussaud´s Museum.

At the Leidseplein street performers of any kind will roulate+ some of them will perform at the DAM too.

Next to these two location you might encounter musicians at the Central Station.

Don´t be surprised you see performing artist at other spot. Each weekend has it own events throughout the city.
