The name Tilburg is mentioned in 709 for the first time. It lasts till the 14th centure when Tilburg and Goirle become known as "Heerlijkheden" and owned by the local nobility . In the 15th century Jan van Haestrecht gives the order to build the Castle of Tilburg also known as "Die stheenen camer aan die Hasselt". In 1858 the castle was replaced by a factory, but the castle still is part of the city's coat of arms.
In 1803 Goirle and Tilburg are seperated and in 1809 Tilburg -with 9000 inhabitans- gets its city rights.
Koning Willem II (1792-1849) loved the city of Tilburg and gave the order to build a Palace. The King died just before the building (now part of the City Hall) was finished.
Tilburg has almost 200.000 inhabitants and is the sixth largest city of The Netherlands.

Inderdaad een leuke stad, was er enkele weken geleden nog voor de Tilburgse kermis ... groot feest! Thanx for sharing.
Nice tips on Tilburg, I am staying here in a couple of weeks time with my friend's sister & we are taking her kiddies to De Efteling on the friday :-) have you been to Den Bosch?
Great new page PJ! I can't believe that restaurant was more "heavenly" than the Eet Kaamer though! :)) Let me know when Brussels is.
