Twekkelo Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 5 photos

Twekkelo is a small rural community between the cities of Hengelo and Enschede. There are some old drilling tower, that were used to drill 400 meter deep holes to the 50 meter thick saltlayer. Nowadays these buildings are monuments and the salt is being pumped up with pumps in the so-called Zouthuisjes.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Peaceful land between the cities
  • Cons:None
  • In a nutshell:Village of salt mining

Anything more to tell about how the salt is actually mined (or whatever you call it)?
