This town is located at the East side of the River Rhine opposite Sankt Goar, connected by a ferry service. In the hills the Castle Katz from 1806 is located.

The Lorelei is a rocky hill of 120 meters on the East bank of the Rhine. Here the river is a its smallest, causing a strong current and difficult navigation.
Lorelei is also the name of one of the beautiful Rhine Maidens who lured navigators of this river to their dooms with their alluring singing.

Nice little page. I should really try and make it down to the Rhine region properly. I hardly know that area.
