Wilton's Music Hall - London

Wilton's Music Hall: The last remaining Music Hall

Wilton's Music Hall is London's last remaining Music Hall. In fact it's the oldest surviving Grand Music Hall in the world. It belongs to the first generation of public house music halls that appeared in London during the 1850s. John Wilton opened Wilton's Music Hall in 1858. Nowadays it's owned by the Wilton's Music Hall Trust and run by a very small and dedicated team of people.

Dominion Theatre: Show time!

The Dominion Theatre was constructed in 1928 and 1929. It was esigned as a theatre for live shows, but the movies grew more popular, so the hall was converted to play show films as well. In the early years of WWII the theatre closed, but reopened in early 1941.

After the war the theatre was reconstructed to support live shows and musicals. The Judy Garland Show was the first with the opening night at October 16, 1957.
Movies were still shown betwwen these venues. Once more the theatre was adapted to support CinemaScope with 6 channels high fidelity sound. The South Pacific movie was the first to be shown at April 21, 1958.

In the Eighties also pop music concerts were given at the Dominion.

After reconstruction after the turn of the century the building still attracs many people. It's located at a hotspot in town.
