Boca do Inferno Boca do Inferno Review

Boca do Inferno (or Hell's Mouth) is a coastal rock formation with an inner small sea lake. Dependent on currents and winds the seawater can be pushed upwards here and create a spectacular view. Some of the natural formed caves can be explored.

Casa de Santa Maria Casa de Santa Maria Review

Casa de Santa Maria was designed by architect Raul Lino and build in 1902.

This true mediterranean building with Arab influences is open to the public.

No admission fee.

Lighthouse Museum

In 2006 this museum openened in the buildings of the Fortress and Lighthouse of Santa Maria.

The Cascais Lighthouse

The Cascais Lighthouse, locally known as the Ponta de Santa Maria Farol was build in 1868.
The focal plane is at 25 meters altitude with white or red light, depending on the direction.
The light is 4.5 seconds on and 15 seconds off.

Parque Marechal Carmona Parque Marechal Carmona Review

The Parque Marechal Carmona is the local Cascais botanical garden with a children's playground, a small animal farm, ponds and a lookoff point.

The parks is open during daytime; no admittance fees.

The Seaside Boulevard

Just over the Praia dos Pescadores beach is a nice seaside boulevard with stalls that sell all lind of stuff during daytime.

The fisher harbour Fishing Harbour Review

Cascais has a small fisher harbour and beach. There is always something to do here. Bringing in fish; cleaning and repairing nets; ships sailing in and out.

Counts of Castro Guimarães Palace Tower

The Counts of Castro Guimarães Palace Tower is part of what now is the Municipal Museum of Cascais. The building is called the S. Sebastian Tower.

Counts of Castro Guimarães Palace/Municipal Museum Conde Gastro Guimaraes Museum Review

The Counts of Castro Guimarães Palace was constructed in 1890. It's located at the Santa Marta Cove, close to the sea.
In 1924 the buiding was transformed into the Cascais Municipal Museum.
Inside art is displayed and rich Indo-Portuguese furniture.
The library has over 25,000 books, some from the XVII century.
In the garden at the right of the main entrance the Capela de S. Sebastião is located.
In the rear the museum borders t the Gandarinha Park.
