Original a small fisherman's harbour

Okpo is a fishermen village for long times. The Okp'o Bay is a natural hidding place and harbour.
The average dry climate was the reason to construct one of the largest shipyards at the Bay. A complete mountain was flattened and the material was used to create the shipyard grounds and a 1.5 km dry dock. Most of the remaining flat land was used for housing accommodation for the shipyard workers.
