It was a crazy trip. No matter of reasons I had an opportunity to buy very cheap ticket and could take nine days off. There was only one condition – I had to go in two days. Well…I packed my backpack, booked a car in Lisbon and bought Lonely Planet. I had no time for anything else. I read my guidebook during the flights and in the airport in Zurich. I didn’t want to go to Algarve region and I knew I had no time for Porto. I decided to do a tour around country and spend last few days in Lisbon. I had no idea where I could be next day, I had no specific plan and…it was great. I found in Portugal all things I expected – warm and friendly people, beautiful cities, lovely mountains, great olives and cork plantations, nice weather and excellent coffee. And I found a lot of things I didn’t expect - the castles, the castles, the castles…and the castles – almost every hill or mountain have a castle on the top, charming, white towns or villages hidden within the ancient walls, beautiful windmills – especially in the places I didn’t expected it, eucalyptus trees – you find a lot eucalyptus forests here, so many remains of Celtic culture – I’ve seen great megaliths in the day of equinox (!) and I found out how important person Dom Dinis was.
I had not time enough to see even half of the main attractions of Portugal. Next time…

Maurizioago Fri Mar 2, 2007 17:11 UTC Nice page. Ciao! | bambino36 Sat Oct 2, 2004 13:32 UTC You're right, Evoramonte is not known for most of the people... however I saw a reference to it in the latest "Michelin green book"... hope tourism don't destroy it's beauty. Beautiful pics on your page. Cheers | Avieira67 Sat Aug 14, 2004 17:35 UTC Hello, Irato As you know the mainland, why not to take a plane to Azores. Nowadays it's possible to take a direct plane from Germany to Ponta Delgada (flight SATA). I visited your country (Krakow, Oswiecin and Zakopane) and I liked very much. Bye, | quartinb Wed Feb 25, 2004 10:51 UTC portugal é muito bonito nao é...? |
