I spent quite long time in Iceland, but not nearly long enough to discover all the wonders of the island. My first visit took place in 1997 and since then I have been here some ten times or so. I do not mean to stop coming here. It was love at first site and reamins all those years. It's fascinating nature isn't the only interesting thing about this country. I can't imagine how hard life was for the first settlers in 10th or 11th century, but they organize the first parliament. They discovered North America. They wrote The Edda and gave us the great Norse myths. They preserved their traditions and wisdom in the Sagas. It's hard to imagine how they survived centuries under the domination of the Kingdom of Norway and Kingdom of Denmark, but they always tried to be free. And they were reborn untuoched. If you have the opportunity to stay in Iceland a little bit longer, you'll realize that there is something else. I think there is some Spirit of Iceland that whispers to you. I'm really sorry that I'll never be able to understand what it's talking about. But still it's a pleasure to hear it.
So far my tips lead around Iceland. Our tour begins in Seyđisfjörđur – east part of Iceland and continues through south, west and north parts of the country. I am going to change and update that tour however. There are new places I wish to add, there some comments I would like to change. It will take some time, but I hope it will worth it.
The pictures quality depends mostly on weather condition, camera condition and my condition at the moment, which were often far from perfect here. But this is the way I saw Iceland.
I hope I make you eager to visit here. |
