Village of Larsen Bay

This village of 100+ people is located on the west side of Kodiak island on Uyak Bay about 30 minutes by air drom the city of Kodiak. The area is heavily populated with Kodiak Brown bears, the largest land dwelling carnivores.

Cannery

Larsen Bay swells in the summer with the fishing and hunting seasons. Due to the decline of the fishing industry, this cannery did not operate this summer.

Hmm, interesting page. I live in Larsen Bay, alaska.. It is rumored that Chinatown in the cannery is haunted and that many chinese hung themselves because the were going to be sent back to china. nice job though good pics.

Really nice pics of Larsen Bay. I commercially fished there in season of '93. Too bad cannery is closed now. That was the busiest summer in a long time. Next time you go, check out the lake for rainbow trout.

I have to get back to Alaska in the near future. Maybe a good first US trip for me and the new wife...
