Cadiz sits on a spit of land and is very compact. The streets may be confusing, but you will soon come out onto the sea to get your bearings. This was to be our first landfall on the European Continent in our tri-continent cruise, except we were diverted to Gibraltar. I loved my day walking around this lovely place. |
| | What They Don't Teach You in School What we are taught about Spain in school is mostly about religion, conquest, and the seach for treasure. These botanical gardens show the importance of botany in the age of exploration. The discovery of new lands included bring back exotic plants. The topiary California Cyprus sit net to banana trees and other wonders of new lands discovered by Spanish explorers. |
Plazas The streets in Cadiz are very narrow and can be claustrophobic, but then they will open onto a plaza with many people out enjoying the mid afternoon sunshine. Many of these plazas will also feature a church. Cadiz is a destination I would gladly return to with more time. | | |
