Privat -- very clean: IBUSZ or not to IBUSZ --that is the question

We arrived in Hungary with no accomodations arrainged. It is very easy to get a room in someone's home. You can go to the IBUSZ to pre-brook a room as they have a network of homes that are open, but they take a cut -- and the rooms vary in quality. The easiest way is to walk towards the IBUSZ office, and you will be approached with offers of rooms. If you don't reach an agreement, they will point you towards the IBUSZ, but you will never get there, as another and another will stop you.

Unique Qualities: Staying in peoples homes is a way to see how the Hungarians live. Often you can inquire at train stations or ask a cabbie. They all know someone with a room to let. Do go to IBUSZ if you are headed for a very popular area (Balaton) as rooms are harder to get there.
