There is more than one appropriate theme for Délifrance: Breakfast, French, Bakery, Coffeehouse, Deli and Takeaway.
Délifrance (with restaurants in among others The Netherlands and Belgium) has a central location in downtown Enschede. Within walking distance from all the shops and bars, this lunchroom (let's call it that) is set in a pedestrianised part of town.
The recently refurbished/renovated interior breathes quietness and takes you away from the shopping crowds.
Favorite Dish: Freshly baked cheese croissants
Long French toast (it claims to be 28cm long!) with cheese, mozarella, Brie, pesto and tomatoes...yummy...

This cosy bistro-like restaurant has a variety of dishes and side dishes. Small appetite or really hungry, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper: you name it, Sam-sam serves it. The Menu of the Day is EUR5.70 (vegetarian option possible); there is a day-by-day overview per week.
The menu indicates which courses can be served quickly and which take more time. Let the waiter know if you are in a hurry, then they will make an effort to serve your courses quicker.
The new terrace overlooking the Oude Markt is great, especially on a warm summer night. If you are sitting inside however, you have the option to sit at the reading table: a large table with a wide choice of newspapers and different types of magazines.
Favorite Dish: Award winning menu
In 2003, Sam-sam won the "ProefEet": an outdoor eating and drinking festival on the Oude Markt of Enschede. The local restaurants/bistros present themselves with original dishes for the audience to taste and rate. Among Sam-sam's winning dishes is the Bologna, spaghetti pie filled with goat's cheese, gruyere, pesto, tomato and spaghetti of course. Another dish I can recommend is Ko-Shamo, an oven dish 'gratin' of chicken fillet, sweet potatoes, pieces of bacon and various mushrooms like shii-take, oyster mushrooms and white button mushrooms.
Desserts
Ever experienced the following? You go out for dinner, looking at the menu you see that in addition to starters and main courses there is a list of yummy looking desserts. You decide to skip the starters in order to leave some space for dessert - but once the main course is finished you are so stuffed that sadly you have to leave dessert for 'next time'...
Sam-sam has the solution!! Rather than the average desserts that are stomach-filling in itself (no main courses needed...), they serve mini-desserts. Mini-tiramisu, mini-ice cream, ... Great for kids as well as grown-ups!
Besides desserts, Sam-sam also has a wide choices of coffees, teas (pure tea, not from a pre-packed box!) and liquours.
Address: Oude Markt 15-17, Enschede

Directions: Sam-sam is situated smack in the middle of Enschede's recently reorganised city centre. The bus/train station is only a 5-minute walk away, and there are indoor and outdoor parking spaces close-by.

A very special restaurant indeed! The personnel of De Huifkar are people with a mental handicap. Under the watching eye of a coach, they take your order, prepare the food, assist you at the buffet - and they do it all with true dedication. It might take a wee while longer to get your food, but it is all worth the while. Just look at the pride in their eyes when you make them a compliment... And oh, yeah: the food is simply gorgeous! A la carte, the menu of the day, vegetarian dishes... Not a problem at De Huifkar!
Opening hours: Monday-Friday 5pm (kitchen open till 8pm); Sat/Sun closed.
Favorite Dish: All dishes are yummy, but leave some space for an even yummier dessert!
